Product Information

EPIC Napoleonics is the sixth expansion for GMT's Commands & Colors Napoleonics game system. It enables players to engage in larger battles with more units. This expansion actually combines two game systems: the Epic Battles system and the La Grande Battles system. While the scale of the Napoleonic game has increased, the historical feel and basic rules mostly stay the same. To fully enjoy these two new Napoleonic game formats, it's best to use the Command card and Tactician card decks from the Generals, Marshals and Tacticians expansion. This expansion includes six standard - sized scenarios focusing on key phases of the December 2, 1805, Battle of Austerlitz. There are also 12 EPIC - sized engagements and two La Grande Battle scenarios. It comes with two double - sided mounted maps. The EPIC - sided battlefield is nearly double the size of the standard one, and when combined, the La Grande battlefield is huge. In an EPIC Napoleonics game, each side has a Commander In Chief (CIC) who plays Command cards and selects from the Courier rack each turn, making the action fast - paced. The Courier rack starts with five visible cards, and the selection process changes as the game progresses. Note that to play most EPIC Napoleonic scenarios, you'll need the base Commands & Colors Napoleonic game and its expansions; this expansion just fills in the gaps.

To use this EPIC Napoleonics expansion, first make sure you have the base Commands & Colors Napoleonic game and its related expansions. Set up the double - sided mounted maps according to the scenario you choose. Each side should pick a Commander In Chief (CIC). The CIC starts the game with a hand of Command cards. On each turn, play one Command card from your hand and select one card from the Courier rack to order units on the battlefield. Remember, the Courier rack starts with five visible cards, and you'll take one each turn. Once there are only two cards left, the rack will be refilled before the next player's turn. When setting up the scenarios, follow the instructions for the specific battle you want to play, like those focused on the Battle of Austerlitz. To keep your game in good condition, store the cards in a card protector and the maps in a flat and dry place. And most importantly, have fun with your friends in these large - scale Napoleonic battles!
