In 122 AD, when the Roman Emperor Hadrian Augustus visited the North of Britannia, he saw the war - torn aftermath between his troops and the fierce Picts. To showcase Roman might, he ordered the construction of a massive wall spanning 80 Roman miles from coast to coast, separating the Pict tribes from the rest of England. This grand wall served the Roman Empire for nearly 300 years and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can explore the remains of forts, towers, and turrets. In the Hadrians Wall board game, players step into the shoes of a Roman General. Over 6 rounds (years), you'll build your milecastle and border wall, defend your territory, and attract civilians by offering services and entertainment. Your goal is to accumulate Renown, Piety, Valour, and Discipline while avoiding Disdain. Prove yourself as the model Roman citizen to the Emperor and be crowned Legatus Legionis!
To play the Hadrians Wall board game, first, each player takes on the role of a Roman General. At the start of each of the 6 rounds, plan how you'll construct your milecastle and wall, man the defenses, and build services to attract civilians. When building, think about how each action can help you gain Renown, Piety, Valour, and Discipline. Try to avoid actions that could lead to Disdain. As you play, keep an eye on your opponents' strategies and adjust yours accordingly. When the 6 rounds are over, the player with the most of the required virtues wins and becomes Legatus Legionis. To maintain the game, store the pieces in a dry and cool place. Avoid bending or breaking the cards and tokens. If the game gets dirty, gently wipe the pieces with a soft, dry cloth.
