Hive The Pillbug

Hive: The Pillbug is an exciting new tile pair for the Hive game. The Pillbug moves like a queen bee, one space at a time. But here's the cool part: it has a special ability that can be used instead of moving. This ability lets the Pillbug shift an adjacent unstacked piece (friend or foe) two spaces - first onto itself, then into an empty adjacent space. However, there are some rules. The Pillbug can't move the piece the opponent just moved, any piece in a stack, a piece that would split the hive (breaking the One Hive Rule), or a piece through a narrow gap of stacked pieces (violating the Freedom to Move Rule). Also, any piece that moves (either directly or by the Pillbug) can't move or use its special ability on the next player's turn. The mosquito can copy the Pillbug's movement or special ability, even if the Pillbug it's touching is immobilized by another Pillbug.

How to use: To use the Pillbug in your Hive game, you can move it one space at a time like a queen bee. Or, instead of moving it, you can use its special ability. Look for an adjacent unstacked piece and move it two spaces - up onto the Pillbug and then down into an empty space next to the Pillbug. Just make sure you follow the rules. Don't move the piece your opponent just moved, any stacked piece, a piece that would split the hive, or a piece through a narrow gap. When a piece moves, it can't do anything on the next player's turn. If you have a mosquito, it can copy the Pillbug's moves or special ability. Maintenance: The tiles are made to last, but handle them gently. Keep them in a dry place and away from sharp objects to avoid scratches. Enjoy your game!
