In the city that never sleeps, there's always a thrill around the corner. It could be the dazzling lights, the vibrant energy, or the colossal monsters aiming to raze the place! King of New York, a standalone game by designer Richard Garfield, retains the core concepts of King of Tokyo while introducing fresh gameplay. Just like in KoT, your aim is to be the first monster to amass 20 victory points (VPs) or the last one standing. On your turn, roll six dice up to three times and act on the results. Claws deal damage to other monsters, hearts heal your own wounds, and energy can be saved to buy power cards with unique effects. What makes King of New York special is the chance to become a star in the big city. You can earn 'Fame' for VPs, but superstar status is short - lived, so make the most of your time in the limelight. The game board is larger than King of Tokyo's, with each monster in a city district, all vying for glory in Manhattan. When you attack, you can displace a monster in another district, either to evade the military or find new smashing opportunities. Yes, you can destroy buildings and get bonuses, but more destruction means a stronger military response. The monsters from King of New York can be used in King of Tokyo and vice versa, though the power cards are exclusive to this game.
How to play: On your turn, roll six dice up to three times. Based on the dice results, use claws to damage other monsters, hearts to heal yourself, and save energy to buy power cards. Try to be the first to get 20 victory points or the last monster standing. You can also aim for 'Fame' to earn extra points. When attacking, you can move monsters in other districts. Maintenance: Keep the game components in a dry place to prevent damage. When not in use, store the dice, cards, and game board in a proper container to avoid losing parts.
