Paladins of the West Kingdom is set around 900 AD during a turbulent era in West Francia. Despite the city's development, outlying townships face threats from various outsiders. Saracens scout the borders, Vikings plunder wealth and livestock, and the Byzantines from the east show their darker side. As noble players, you'll gather city workers to defend against enemies, build fortifications, and spread faith across the land. You're not alone, as the wise King has sent his best knights to assist. Gear up your horses and sharpen your swords, for the Paladins are coming! The goal is to earn the most victory points (VP) by the game's end. You gain points by building outposts and fortifications, commissioning monks, and confronting outsiders. Each round, enlist a specific Paladin and gather workers for tasks. As the game unfolds, you'll boost your faith, strength, and influence, which impact your final score and the significance of your actions. The game wraps up after the seventh round.
To play Paladins of the West Kingdom, start by setting up the game board and getting all the pieces ready. In each round, pick a Paladin to help you and then gather workers. Use these workers to build outposts and fortifications, commission monks, or face off against outsiders. Your goal is to earn as many victory points as you can by the end of the seventh round. Remember, your faith, strength, and influence matter a lot, so try to increase them as the game goes on. When storing the game, keep all the pieces in a box or bag to avoid losing them.
