Originally played with a 60 - piece pyramid ('classic icehouse') game set for 2 - 6 players, the original two - player variant was called Binary Homeworlds. This new standalone 2 - player edition comes with 36 pyramids in 4 colors, each with unique powers. Red pyramids are for attack, yellow for movement, green for growth, and blue for transformation. With just 36 pyramids, Homeworlds becomes a 4X conquest game (Expand, Explore, Exploit, Exterminate).

To play Homeworlds, start by setting up the 36 - pyramid game set for two players. The red pyramids are used for attacking your opponent's pieces. When you want to move your pieces around the galactic board, use the yellow ones. The green pyramids help your pieces grow in strength, and the blue ones can transform pieces into different states. Remember, the goal is to destroy your opponent's Homeworld before they reach yours. Keep the pyramids away from dust and moisture to maintain their quality. If a pyramid gets dirty, you can gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Also, make sure to store the game in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent any damage to the pieces.
