Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. The game is physically large, featuring sixty - four figurines of cultists, monsters, aliens, and Great Old Ones, ranging from about 20 mm to nearly 180 mm in height. The game unfolds on an Earth map. Each player represents one of four base - game factions. At the turn start, players gather power. During action rounds, they use this power for tasks like recruiting cultists, moving units, battling, summoning monsters, building gates, casting spells, and awakening their Great Old One. When power runs out, the action phase ends and a new turn begins. Victory is achieved by scoring points on the Doom Track. The first to 30 wins if they've unlocked all six spell books. Each faction has unique monsters, spell books, and special abilities, with different requirements to get spell books. Multiple strategies are available. The base game supports 2 - 4 players (the map can handle 5), and with expansions, it can support up to 8 players.
