Note: paid add - ons from the Kickstarter are not included unless stated otherwise. Cthulhu Wars is an epic strategy board game where you play as alien races and gods from H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. It's a large - scale game with 64 figurines of cultists, monsters, aliens, and Great Old Ones, ranging from 20mm to nearly 180mm in height. The game unfolds on an Earth map. Each turn, players first gather power and then use it in action rounds for tasks like recruiting cultists, moving units, battling, summoning monsters, building gates, casting spells, and awakening their Great Old One. The action phase ends when players run out of power, and a new turn starts. Victory goes to the first player to reach 30 points on the Doom Track, but only if they've unlocked all six spell books. Each faction has unique monsters, spell books, special abilities, and requirements to get their spell books, offering multiple strategies. The base game supports 2 - 4 players (the map can handle 5), and expansions with new factions and maps allow up to 8 players. How to play: First, set up the game on the Earth - themed map. Each player chooses one of the four factions in the base game. At the start of your turn, gather power. Then, during action rounds, use that power to do things like getting cultists, moving your units around, fighting other players, calling in monsters, building gates, casting spells, and waking up your Great Old One. Keep going until you run out of power, then the next turn starts. The goal is to get 30 points on the Doom Track, but make sure you unlock all six spell books first. Tips: Think about your faction's unique monsters, spell books, and special abilities. There are lots of ways to play, so try different strategies. Remember, the expansions can add more players and new elements to the game. Maintenance: Keep the game in a dry and cool place to protect the 3mm punchboard and the 64 figurines. When you're done playing, put everything back in the box neatly. Also, be careful with the figurines as they can be fragile.
