Players help their favored geisha gain prestige by performing at different teahouses. Geisha start as maiko, become full geisha after getting enough patronage for the graduation ceremony at their original teahouse, and some may inherit the teahouse later. At the end of the game, the player who supports the most prestigious group of geisha wins.

How to play: First, set up the Hanamikoji board game, including placing the board, Collector’s Bookcase, and Action Tiles Expansion. Each player represents a patron. The game is for 2 players and takes about 30 minutes. At the start, geisha are apprentices (maiko). You'll help your favored geisha perform at different teahouses to gain prestige. When a geisha gets enough patronage, they can return to their original teahouse for the graduation ceremony and become a full geisha, scoring prestige points. Some geisha may even inherit the teahouse later, getting more points. The player who supports the most prestigious group of geisha at the end of the game wins.
