Note that unless stated otherwise, paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included. Haven Town is on the verge of total destruction by a horde of monsters from beyond the Shadowrift. You, the heroes, must unite to fight them back. As a deck - building game, at the start, you're a basic hero who can explore and fight. You can buy new cards to enhance your deck, defining you as an adventurer and complementing your fellow heroes' strengths. Unlike other deck - builders, there's constant interaction with other players as you decide who benefits from the limited townsfolk, use coins to build walls, and seek healing from magic - learned players. The monsters in Shadowrift are active; if left alone, they'll wreck Haven Town, kill people, break walls, and attack heroes. Defeating monsters gives heroes Heroism, a power boost for all tasks. The second edition has improved mechanisms like a revised monster attack - selection system and new monster powers, making them more dangerous. How to use: First, set up the game according to the instructions. Each player starts as a basic hero. You can explore the game area and engage in combat. To get stronger, buy new cards for your deck. When interacting with other players, decide who will get the benefits from the townsfolk and use coins to build walls. When monsters appear, fight them to gain Heroism. Remember, the monsters won't stop until the last Shadowrift is sealed or the town becomes a fortress.
