Set in Shikoku, Japan in 1889, this 18xx game, similar to 1830 but on a smaller, terrain - heavy map, takes place after Japan's sakoku period. The Meiji Restoration has brought a tech explosion, and railway operations are booming on the island. You play as entrepreneurs, starting and running railway corporations to build Shikoku's railway network and aim to amass more wealth than competitors. It's a re - release of '1889: History of Shikoku Railways'. With a new name, graphic design, full rulebook rewrite, and high - quality components, it's a great intro to the 18xx genre. Simple to start with but full of depth. Prints of Erik Frobom’s 'Rusted Blossoms' can be bought as an add - on (price TBD). In 18xx games, you're an investor in railroad companies, making decisions to earn dividends and stock value gains. In Shikoku 1889, 2 - 6 players buy shares in railroad companies, and the major shareholder makes operational decisions. The game simulates railroad development, with old trains becoming obsolete and city revenues growing. The player with the highest value of cash and stocks at the end wins. Originally from Wild Heaven, now published by Grand Trunk Games. We're glad to support campaigns and offer this game at TheGameSteward. A portion of your spend will back new Kickstarter games. To play Shikoku 1889, first set up the game board and all the components as described in the rulebook. Each player gets a starting amount of money. During Share Dealing Rounds, use your money to buy shares in railroad companies. Between these rounds, the major shareholder of each railroad corporation makes decisions on operations on the game board. Try to buy the most profitable shares at the right times to earn dividends and increase stock value. Keep an eye on how old trains become obsolete and how city revenues grow over time. At the end of the game, count the value of your personal cash and held stocks, and the one with the highest value wins. When storing the game, keep all components in a dry place to prevent damage. If any parts get dirty, gently clean them with a soft cloth. Make sure to read the rulebook carefully, especially if you're new to 18xx games. And remember, the paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless stated otherwise.
