Stars of Akarios is a narrative - driven, cooperative campaign game set in the Akarios Galaxy. You'll engage in epic space battles, upgrade your ship, and explore the edges of space. It's built on four key gameplay pillars: Space Combat, World Exploration, Space Exploration, and Player Progression.
You and your fellow cadets are in the final stages of your Akarios Institute pilot training when an unknown enemy attacks your home planet. Team up with war hero Captain Soma and her ship, the Sparrow. Step out of your fighters to explore hostile worlds and ships, using your wits to find a new home for your civilization. Manage your ship's resources as you explore new space regions and take on survival missions. Your pilots' skills will grow as you face enemies, and you can upgrade your characters' unique abilities and skill trees.
The 200 - page scenario book unfolds like a choose - your - own - adventure. Multiple play - throughs are needed to see the whole Akarios galaxy. Decide which pilot you want to play as. There are 8 different pilots, and you start with 4 available ones. As you make choices during the game, you can unlock the other pilots.
When setting up, place the neoprene mat on the table. It provides a great surface for the game. The 200 - page scenario book is your guide. It's like a choose - your - own - adventure story. Read through the scenarios and make your choices based on what you want your character to do.
In the game, you'll engage in space battles. Use your pilot's skills and the abilities of your ship. You can upgrade your ship using the upgrade and ability cards. There are over 55 weapon cards, 55 engine cards, and 55 tech cards. Choose the best combination for your ship's class.
As you explore new regions of space and fight enemies, manage your ship's resources carefully. If you run out of resources, you can still continue exploring, but you might start your next encounter at a disadvantage.
