Product Information
Board Game Geek Rating: 7.57, Avg Player Rating: 7.80. For 2 to 4 players, published in 2013. This is the Retail Edition of the Russian Railroads board game. In Russian Railroads, players engage in an exciting race to build the largest and most advanced railway network. You'll assign workers to key tasks. Simple tracks quickly lead to important places, and modernizing the network boosts machinery efficiency. New locomotives cover more ground, and factories produce better tech. Use engineers effectively to outpace the competition. There are multiple ways to win. Each player has their own board with factory space and 3 rail tracks to different cities. Mark track progression with tokens. Build tracks in a specific order (black, gray, brown, natural, white), and later tracks can't go further than earlier ones. As track heads advance, you'll cross thresholds for rewards like starting new track colors, getting victory points, and bonus tiles. Each track can have 1 or 2 engines, and loco size determines VP scoring. The central board has worker - placement locations. Each location needs 1 - 3 workers. Starting with 5 or 6 workers (depending on player count), players take turns using locations for various abilities such as advancing track heads, getting engines or factories, earning coins, getting temporary workers, changing turn order, and acquiring engineers. Each round ends when all players pass on worker placement. Then, score VP for tracks and factory lines. After 7 rounds (or 6 in 2 - 3 player games), the player with the most VP wins. To play Russian Railroads, first, set up the game board. Each player gets their own board with space for factories and 3 rail tracks to different cities. Mark your track progression using track tokens. Remember, you need to build tracks in the order of black, gray, brown, natural, and white, and later tracks can't go further than earlier ones. You start with 5 workers in a 4 - player game or 6 workers in a 2 - 3 player game. Take turns using the worker - placement locations on the central board. These locations offer different abilities like moving your track heads, getting engines or factories, earning coins, etc. When the track head on a track advances, you'll cross thresholds that give you rewards. At the end of each round, when all players have passed on placing or using workers, score victory points for each track and factory line. After 7 rounds (6 in 2 - 3 player games), the player with the most victory points wins. Keep the game pieces in a safe place when not in use to avoid loss. If any of the tokens or cards get dirty, you can gently clean them with a dry cloth. Don't bend or fold the cards to keep them in good condition.
