In Island Fortress, a thrilling board game, you step into the shoes of a master builder hand - picked by Governor Cortland Hansen. Your mission is to build the majestic Fort Aldenford using the penal colony on Alcott Island. With the support of your Taskmaster, Workers, and the Governor, aim to become the most renowned architect! All players use the same set of five Role Cards to plan actions like hiring workers, constructing the wall, and collecting funds from the treasury. Score points by building most of the blocks on each row of the fortress wall. Additionally, follow the Governor's preferred patterns to complete favors and earn various bonuses. Formerly named Huang Di with a Great Wall of China theme, Island Fortress won the first ProtoSlam competition by Cambridge Games Factory in August 2006 and is the debut game of designer Bryan Johnson.

To play Island Fortress, first, each player gets an identical deck of five Role Cards. These cards will help you plan your actions during the game. You can use them to buy workers, build the wall, or collect money from the treasury. Your main goal is to build as many blocks as possible on each row of the fortress wall to score points. Also, try to follow the Governor's preferred patterns when building the walls to get extra bonuses. When handling the cards, be gentle to avoid any damage. Keep the game components in a dry and cool place to maintain their quality. If you're new to the game, it might take a few rounds to get the hang of it, so don't worry if you don't win right away.
