Product Information

Board Game Geek Rating: 7.38. Average Player Rating: 7.49. Published in 2014, this is the Retail Edition of the Splendor Board Game. Splendor is an exciting chip - collecting and card development game. You step into the shoes of Renaissance merchants, aiming to buy gem mines, transportation means, and shops to gain the most prestige points. The wealthy might even receive a noble visit, boosting prestige! On your turn, you can collect chips (gems), buy and build a card, or reserve one. Collect three different chips or two of the same kind. Buying a card means paying with chips and adding it to your play area. Reserving a card (to secure it or stop opponents) costs a round but gets you a gold joker chip. All bought cards increase your wealth with a permanent gem bonus, and some give prestige points. Win by reaching 15 prestige points before your opponents. We're happy to back campaigns so you can buy Splendor Retail Edition online at TheGameSteward. A good part of your spend on Splendor will back new Kickstarter games. If you have purchase or game advice questions, contact The Game Steward.

How to play: In Splendor, you play as a Renaissance merchant. On your turn, you have three options. First, you can collect chips. You can take either three different kinds of chips or two of the same kind. Second, you can buy a card by paying its price in chips and place it in your playing area. Third, you can reserve a card. It'll cost you a round, but you'll get a gold joker chip that can be used as any gem. The goal is to reach 15 prestige points before your opponents. You gain prestige points from some cards and also increase your wealth as each card gives you a permanent gem bonus for later purchases. Note: Remember that reserving a card is a strategic move. It can help you secure a card you really need or prevent your opponents from getting it, but it does cost you a turn. Maintenance: Keep the game components in a dry and clean place. Avoid exposing the cards and chips to direct sunlight or water to prevent damage. If the cards get dirty, you can gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth.
