Product Information

Develop and colonize your own planet using uniquely shaped tiles on a rotating tray. Our home planet is out of resources, so we've found new planets and sent rovers to check them for colonization. The rovers have confirmed 1 - 6 viable options. Planet Unknown is a competitive board game for 1 - 6 players. Each player tries to develop the best planet. In each round, place a polyomino - shaped, dual - resource tile on your planet. These resources are essential for the planet's life - supporting infrastructure. Every tile placement matters for efficient planet coverage and engine building. After placing a tile, perform two actions related to the tile's infrastructure types. Some tile placements trigger'meteors' that make planet development harder and block scoring in the meteor's row and column. This game innovates on the polyomino trend with simultaneous, strategic turn - based play via the Lazy S.U.S.A.N. space station at the table's center. It's suitable for 1 - 6 players, takes 60 - 80 minutes, and is for ages 10 and up. Features include network and route building, open drafting, pattern building, simultaneous action selection, and tech trees/tracks. Themes are city building, industry/manufacturing, puzzle, science fiction, space exploration, and territory building. It has received many awards and honors, like being a 2023 Kennerspiel des Jahres nominee and a 2023 American Tabletop Strategy Games winner.

To play Planet Unknown, first set up the game with the rotating tray and all the tiles. Each player claims a planet area to develop. In each round, take a polyomino - shaped tile and place it on your planet. Think carefully about where to place it to cover your planet well and build up your planet's engine. After placing the tile, do the two actions associated with the infrastructure types on the tile. Watch out for'meteors'! Some tile placements will trigger them, which can make it harder to develop your planet and stop you from scoring points in certain rows and columns. When it comes to maintenance, keep the tiles and the rotating tray clean. Store them in a dry place to prevent warping or damage. If you're new to the game, take your time to understand the rules and the different actions. It's okay to make mistakes at first. Just enjoy the process of colonizing your planet and competing with other players. Have fun!
