Cthulhu Wars is an exciting strategy board game where players become alien races and gods from H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. The game is large - scale and has 64 figurines of cultists, monsters, aliens, and Great Old Ones, with heights ranging from about 20 mm to nearly 180 mm. The game unfolds on an Earth - themed map. Each player represents one of four factions in the base game. At the start of a turn, players gather power and then spend it during action rounds to do things like recruiting cultists, moving units, battling, summoning monsters, building gates, casting spells, and awakening their Great Old One. When players run out of power, the action phase ends and a new turn starts. Victory is decided by getting points on the Doom Track. The first to reach 30 points wins if they've unlocked all six spell books. Each faction has unique monsters, spell books, and special abilities, and different requirements to get their spell books, offering multiple strategies. The base game supports 2 - 4 players (the map can handle 5), and with expansions, it can support up to 8 players.
