Board Game Geek Rating: 6.39. Board Game Geek Avg Player Rating: 7.46. Suitable for 2 to 6 players. Published in 2015. This is the Kickstarter Edition of the Evolution: Flight Board Game Expansion. Note that unless stated otherwise, paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included. Evolution: Flight, an exciting expansion for the Evolution board game, brings avian species into the ecosystem. Your species can now swoop down on prey from above, escape predators by flying, or move to a new area when food is scarce. Discover if flight will lead you to victory or defeat in the expanding Evolution world! With this expansion, you can choose between creating normal and flying species. Flying species have unique costs and benefits. Costs: Discard 2 cards instead of 1 to create a flying species. They have a maximum body size of 3 instead of 6. And they have an upkeep food cost equal to their body size, representing the food needed for wings. Advantages: Some new traits like Dive - Bomb and Brood Parasite only work for flying creatures. A species with Flight can get food from the Cliff, an extra food source. A flying species can't be attacked unless the attacker also has Flight. If a flying species is also a Carnivore, you can discard cards from your hand to counter Symbiosis, Warning Call, or Climbing during an attack. This expansion significantly changes tactics and strategy, yet keeps the core mechanics of the base game, making it easy to learn. At TheGameSteward, we're happy to support campaigns to bring you games like Evolution: Flight. A large portion of every dollar you spend on this game will go towards backing new and amazing games on Kickstarter. If you have questions about purchasing Evolution: Flight (Kickstarter Special Edition), buying online at The Game Steward, or need game advice, contact us at The Game Steward.
Using the Evolution: Flight expansion is simple. First, set up the base game as you normally would. Then, when it's time to create species, you have the option to make either a normal or a flying species. To create a flying species, discard 2 cards instead of 1. Remember, flying species have a max body size of 3 and need to pay an upkeep food cost equal to their body size each turn. When playing, take advantage of the unique traits of flying species. For example, use Dive - Bomb or Brood Parasite when you have a flying creature. Also, don't forget that flying species can get food from the Cliff and are generally safe from non - flying attackers. Note that this is the Kickstarter Edition, and unless specified, paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included. As for maintenance, keep the cards in a cool, dry place to prevent warping or damage. If the cards get dirty, you can gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth.
