Product Information

Board Game Geek Avg Player Rating: 8.17. This 2 - 6 player board game was published in 2018. It's the Kickstarter Edition of 18Chesapeake, usually not available in retail stores. Note: paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign aren't included unless stated. 18Chesapeake is part of the 18xx series, inspired by 1829 by Francis Tresham. Set in the Chesapeake region, Ohio, and the West Virginia Coalfields, players act as railroad company investors. They use their starting capital to buy private and minor companies first, then shares in public companies. Public companies, controlled by the largest shareholder (president), build tracks and run trains to earn revenues. These revenues can be paid as dividends or retained for expansion. A unique feature is that the president's and shareholders' interests may differ, so minority shareholders should be cautious. It's a moderately long game. Experienced players can finish in about 2.5 hours, while novices may take an extra hour. We're excited to offer 18Chesapeake for online purchase at TheGameSteward. A large part of your spending on this game will support new Kickstarter games. If you have questions about buying or need game advice, contact The Game Steward.

How to use: First, gather 2 to 6 players. Each player starts as an investor in railroad companies. Use your initial capital to buy private and minor companies. As the game progresses, buy shares in public companies. The largest shareholder of a public company becomes the president, who decides on building tracks and running trains to earn revenues. You can choose to take dividends or reinvest the money. Things to note: Remember that the president's interests may not match the shareholders'. Minority shareholders should think carefully before investing. Also, this is a Kickstarter Edition, and paid add - ons from the campaign aren't included unless specified. Maintenance advice: Keep the game components in a dry and clean place. If the cards or boards get dirty, gently wipe them with a soft cloth. When not in use, store the game in its box to avoid damage.
