Board Game Geek Rating: 6.94, Avg Player Rating: 7.06. Suitable for 2 to 6 players and published in 2012. This is the Kickstarter Edition of the Coup Board Game. Note that paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless stated otherwise. In this game, you're the head of a family in an Italian city - state ruled by a weak and corrupt court. Your goal is to manipulate, bluff, and bribe your way to power, destroying the influence of other families and forcing them into exile. Only one family can survive! In Coup, be the last player with influence, represented by face - down character cards. Each player starts with two coins and two influence cards. The deck has fifteen cards with three copies of five unique characters, each with special powers. The Duke can take three coins from the treasury and block foreign aid. The Assassin can pay three coins to try and assassinate another player's character. The Contessa can block an assassination attempt on herself. The Captain can take two coins from another player or block coin - stealing. The Ambassador can draw two cards, choose to exchange, and block coin - stealing. On your turn, you can take listed character actions or actions like Income (take one coin), Foreign aid (take two coins), or Coup (pay seven coins to launch a coup). When taking a character action, it succeeds unless challenged. If challenged and you can't reveal the right character, you lose an influence. If you reveal the correct character, the challenger loses an influence. A new optional Inquisitor character has been added (only in the Kickstarter Version from Indie Boards & Cards). The Inquisitor can draw a card, exchange it, force an opponent to show a card, and block coin - stealing. We're excited to back campaigns and offer the Coup Kickstarter Game for online purchase at TheGameSteward. A large percentage of your spending on Coup will support new Kickstarter games. If you have purchase questions or need game advice, contact The Game Steward.
How to play: Each player starts the game with two coins and two face - down character cards. The last player with a face - down character wins. Note: This is the Kickstarter Edition. Paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless specified. Also, only the Kickstarter Version from Indie Boards & Cards has the Inquisitor character. Maintenance: Keep the cards in a dry place to prevent them from getting damaged.
