Product Information

Board Game Geek Avg Player Rating: 7.00. This game is for 3 to 6 players and was published in 2018. It's the Kickstarter Deluxified Edition of the Downfall Board Game with an added Big Map. It includes the Deluxified Core Game (featuring upgrade components and plastic miniatures), Big Map upsized tiles, and all unlocked stretch goals. Note that unless stated, paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included. The world has ended after nuclear bombs fell. In 2213, you'll control a unique faction in this post - apocalyptic 4X strategy game. Survival is uncertain, and only the top - ranked player wins. Using a unique card - drafting system, players choose actions each turn like foraging for resources, reducing radiation, or traveling with citizens and airships. As the game progresses, they can research new tech or start conflicts. Each card has major and minor actions. For example, the 'Gather' action lets you turn raw resource tokens, 'Regrow + Excavate' places resources on specific spaces, 'Bunker' gives you choices like getting survivors or resources, 'Build' allows you to equip survivors, build structures, or remove radiation, 'Command' helps with unit movement, and Research / War cards offer tech research or conflict initiation. After actions, cards are discarded and new ones are drawn. If a 'Winter' card is drawn, the game timer moves forward, causing events like radiation spread and the need to feed citizens. The game ends when the Winter Track finishes. Downfall will be in a high - quality Deluxified™ format. Designer John D. Clair created it to be the perfect 4X game with earth - based play, economy - focused area control, and non - luck combat. Tasty Minstrel Games maintains high standards with this game, like they did with Orleans and Yokohama. In 2213, a 19 - day war ended the world order. Each turn, players draft and play cards for actions. Points can be earned in different ways, and resources can be stored or left for others. When a 'Winter' card is added, it's replaced and the timer advances. Reach stretch goals to save civilization from Downfall! Upsized Map Tiles are available, with the same artwork as standard tiles but larger for more play space. They're compatible with both Deluxified™ and Retail versions. You can buy this game online at TheGameSteward, and a portion of your purchase will back new games on Kickstarter. Contact The Game Steward if you have questions.

How to Play: First, set up the game with the Deluxified Core Game components and the Big Map upsized tiles. Each player gets a faction to control. At the start of each turn, draft a card from your hand. Use the card to take an action, like moving your citizens or airships, building structures, researching technology, starting a conflict, or gathering resources. After all players have completed their actions, discard the used cards and draw new ones. If a 'Winter' card is drawn, advance the game timer. The game ends when the Winter Track reaches the end, and then points are counted to find the winner. Note that paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless otherwise stated. Also, be careful not to gain more survivors than you can feed. Maintenance: Keep the game components in a dry and cool place. Make sure to store the cards in a proper card protector to prevent damage. If the plastic miniatures get dirty, you can gently clean them with a soft cloth. If there are any issues with the game, contact The Game Steward for assistance.
