Product Information

Board Game Geek Rating: 6.66. Board Game Geek Avg Player Rating: 7.30. For 2 to 4 players. Published in 2024. This is the Gamefound Edition of Islebound: Emerald Isle Board Game. It includes the core game, a screen-printed wooden ship, and a metal coin set. This special edition features revised building cards, altered town actions, and a brand - new resource: emeralds! Note: Paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless stated otherwise. What's inside? The core game, a cool screen - printed wooden ship, a shiny metal coin set, revised building cards, changed town actions, and the exciting new resource - emeralds. Set sail in a magical archipelago full of busy towns, fearsome sea monsters, sneaky pirates, and loads of gold! Compete with up to three friends to build the greatest sea - faring nation. Collect treasure, hire crew, and either conquer or befriend island towns. Islebound: Emerald Edition is a special variant of the game, not a second edition. There'll be an upgrade gameplay kit and a deluxe components kit (wooden ships and metal coins). This edition replaces the book resource in the original game with emeralds. Emeralds have unique uses. You can collect them when visiting a player - owned town or taking over a town. Use them to buy building cards or perform special abilities, like keeping pirates and serpents after combat! The building deck is updated to fit this resource change, including cards from the original game and the Metropolis expansion. There won't be a building card expansion for this edition, and the Metropolis expansion isn't compatible. In Islebound, you're in charge of a ship and crew. Sail to island towns, gather resources, hire crew, and build buildings for your capital city. Each building has its own special ability, which can boost your trading, building, or invading skills. Recruit pirates and sea monsters to conquer towns. Once conquered, you can do the town action for free and charge opponents if they want to use it. Or complete events to get influence and befriend towns. There are many ways to win. Will you be a tough conqueror, a smart diplomat, or a clever merchant? The player with the most wealth and the most amazing capital city wins the game! We're happy to support campaigns to bring you games like Islebound. When you buy Islebound at TheGameSteward, a big part of your spending will go towards backing new Kickstarter games. If you have questions about buying Islebound or need game advice, contact The Game Steward.

How to play: First, set up the game by placing the board, adding the screen - printed wooden ship, and laying out the metal coin set. Each player takes command of a ship and crew. Sail your ship to different island towns. When you reach a town, you can collect resources, hire crew members, or commission buildings for your capital city. If you want to use the new resource, emeralds, visit player - owned towns or take over towns to collect them. Then use emeralds to buy building cards or perform special abilities. You can also recruit pirates and sea monsters to conquer towns. Once a town is conquered, you can do the town action for free and charge other players if they want to use it. Another option is to complete events to gain influence and befriend towns. Note: Remember that paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless otherwise stated. Also, the Metropolis expansion is not compatible with this Emerald Edition, and there won't be a building card expansion for it. Maintenance: Keep the game components in a dry and clean place. Don't expose the wooden ship and cards to direct sunlight or moisture for a long time. When not in use, store the game in its box to prevent damage.
