Each player starts with their civilization in early antiquity, learning various technologies to progress through the Middle Ages, the Industrial Revolution, and into Modern Times, ending with today’s Internet or Social Welfare. Unlike other civilization games, Progress zeroes in on a single crucial aspect of civilization building: researching technologies for societal advancement. The 210 technology cards are divided into three ages (Ancient, Middle Ages, Industrial) and three types (Military, Science, and Culture). As you advance on a path, you'll find it easier to access more advanced technologies and unlock the next age. Each tech card offers a bonus, like extra knowledge or a larger hand size. While most tech cards come in multiple copies, key technologies are rarer, forcing players to specialize and gain unique advantages. Researching a technology reduces the cost of up to three more advanced ones, speeding up the race to the game's end. The gameplay is streamlined. Players usually take two actions per turn, making turns short and allowing you to plan while others play.
