Product Information

Board Game Geek Rating: 5.94, Avg Player Rating: 6.52. Playable by 2 to 5 players and published in 2014. This is the Kickstarter Edition of the North Sea Shipwrights board game, usually not available in retail stores. Note that paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless stated otherwise. Set in the early Viking Age around 900 AD, players act as Viking shipwrights, competing to build the greatest fleet on the North Sea. You'll need to collect oak, wool, and iron, and recruit other craftsmen. Gold is precious, so spend it wisely. The township is full of all kinds of characters, some good and some bad. Hope they're on your side! The aim is to get the most Victory Points by constructing ships and buildings. The game ends when one or more players build their 4th ship. It's played over days (rounds) with a daily pattern: Morning Planning (each player gets 3 cards), Afternoon Working (take actions and play/discard cards), and Evening Resting (get gold and workers for the next day). Components include 128 cards with 46 unique illustrations, 5 beautifully illustrated player boards, 5 player reference boards, 1 illustrated rulebook, 1 pioneer token, 5 VP markers, plus wooden components like 5 gold ships, 25 oak, 25 wool, 25 iron, and 50 workers. We're glad to support campaigns and offer this game for online purchase at TheGameSteward. A large part of your spending will go towards backing new Kickstarter games. If you have questions, contact us at The Game Steward.

To play North Sea Shipwrights, first, set up all the components as described in the rulebook. The game is played over days. In the morning, each player gets 3 cards for planning. Use these cards to decide your actions for the day. During the afternoon, take actions like collecting resources (oak, wool, iron) and getting craftsmen on board. You can play or discard your cards. Gold is important, so use it carefully to build ships and buildings. In the evening, you'll receive gold and workers for the next day. The game ends when one or more players build their 4th ship. At that point, count your Victory Points from ships and buildings to see who wins. When storing the game, keep the cards in a card box to prevent damage. The wooden components can be stored in a bag or container. Make sure to keep all the pieces together. If you're buying the Kickstarter Edition, remember that paid add - ons from the campaign are not included unless stated otherwise. If you have any questions during the game, don't hesitate to contact The Game Steward.
