In Smartphone Inc., step into the shoes of a CEO of a leading smartphone - producing company in the era when smartphones started to dominate the world. Over five rounds, you'll make decisions on price, production, research, and expansion to outshine your competitors and become the most profitable company.
The game features a unique planning mechanism that combines patching, bidding, and action selection. Each round has eight simple phases: planning, pricing, production, development, research, expansion, selling, and profits.
In the planning phase, all players simultaneously patch their plan cards and development tiles to determine their actions for the next year. During pricing, you can choose a lower price to sell more or a higher, riskier price to earn more. In production, smartphones are made based on your plan. In development, players take turns to pick development tiles. In research, use research points to discover new technologies with special powers. In expansion, open offices in neighboring regions. In the sale phase, sell your phones in regions where you have offices, but beware of high prices as faster rivals may block you. Finally, in the profit phase, earn income from sold phones and control of the accessory market.
After five rounds, the richest player wins!

How to play Smartphone Inc. is quite straightforward. First, gather 1 to 5 players. Each round has eight phases. In the planning phase, take your plan cards and development tiles and patch them together to decide what you'll do in the next year. This plan is super important as it'll guide you through the rest of the round.
When it comes to the pricing phase, think carefully. A lower price means you can sell more smartphones quickly, but a higher price, though risky, can bring in more money. In production, just make the number of smartphones according to your plan.
During development, wait for your turn to pick a development tile. This will give you more options in later rounds. In the research phase, use your research points to find new technologies. These technologies can help you sell more phones and give you special powers.
For expansion, use the expansion points from your plan to open offices in neighboring regions. This way, you can sell your phones there. When it's time to sell, go to the regions where you have offices. But watch out! If your price is too high, other players might sell their phones first and block you.
After selling, it's profit time. You'll earn money based on the price of the phones you sold. Also, if you sold more phones in a region, you'll get extra money for controlling the accessory market.
Here are some things to keep in mind. Remember that the paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless it's specifically stated. And at the end of the sale phase, any unsold smartphones are discarded.
To maintain your game, keep the cards and tiles in a dry place. Don't bend or fold them. If they get dirty, you can gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth. Have fun playing and may you become the richest CEO in Smartphone Inc.!
