Product Information

Board Game Geek Rating: 6.04. Avg Player Rating: 7.63. For 2 - 5 players, published in 2016. This is the Kickstarter Edition of the Vanuatu Board Game. It includes the core second - edition game from the Quined Masterprint Series, Rising Waters and Governor Mini - Expansions, and all stretch goals. Note: paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless stated. In Vanuatu, you play as a Vanuatuan aiming to prosper in eight turns. Manage natural resources, rare items, vatus (local currency), and tourists. Earn money or prosperity points by drawing on sand (a UNESCO - recognized intangible heritage), transporting tourists across islands, or trading cargo with foreign countries. Each turn, the archipelago expands. Program your actions with five tokens. Place them on action spaces, and you can play an action only if you have the majority. Sometimes, wait for others to remove tokens. If not in majority, remove your tokens from an action. A smart strategy can block opponents; order matters! Islands and sea resources are scarce, so be quick. There's no rich Vanuatuan. When you reach ten Vatus, they turn into 5 prosperity points. You can choose one of ten helpers each turn to boost action benefits. Being the first player gives you an advantage. In summary, Vanuatu is a strategic programming and majority - based game with player interaction, development, and blocking. The Quined Master Print edition offers the original game, Rising Waters expansion, and the Governor character, with new artwork by Konstantin Vohwinkel. The Rising Waters expansion adds tension as global warming threatens islands. Players must unite to build dikes. We're happy to back campaigns and offer Vanuatu Second Edition for online purchase at TheGameSteward. A portion of your purchase will support new Kickstarter games. To play Vanuatu, first set up the game board according to the rules in the core second - edition game. You'll be playing as a Vanuatuan and your goal is to prosper over eight turns. Start by managing your resources like natural resources, rare items, vatus, and tourists. To earn money or prosperity points, you can draw on the sand, transport tourists around the islands, or trade cargo with foreign countries. On each turn, the archipelago expands. Take your five tokens and place one or more on the action spaces you choose. But remember, you can only play an action if you have the majority on that space. If you're not in the majority, you may need to wait for other players to move their tokens or remove your own tokens from that action. When it comes to strategy, think about how to block other players. For example, they can't sell fish if they haven't caught them first. Islands and sea resources are limited, so act fast. Once you reach ten Vatus, they'll automatically turn into 5 prosperity points. Each turn, you can pick one of the ten helpers to increase the benefits of an action. The first player gets to choose first. In the Quined Master Print edition, you also have the Rising Waters expansion and the Governor character. With the Rising Waters expansion, global warming is a threat. Work together with other players to build dikes to protect the islands. As for maintenance, keep the game pieces in a dry and clean place. Avoid bending or damaging the cards and tokens. If you have any issues during the game or need advice on how to play better, don't hesitate to contact The Game Steward.
