Board Game Geek Avg Player Rating: 9.00. This is a Kickstarter Edition of the Crimson Seas Expansion for Valeria Card Kingdoms Board Game. It's suitable for 1 to 5 players and was published in 2019. The expansion includes the core content plus all unlocked stretch goals, but it requires the Valeria Card Kingdoms core game (sold separately). Note that unless otherwise stated, paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included.
The expansion comes with a rich set of components: 60 Citizen cards, 5 Coxwain Starter Citizen cards, 28 Monster cards (art in progress), 5 Domain cards, 16 Noble cards (art in progress; pledge at the Nobility & Captains level to have your likeness in the game), 30 Goods tokens (punchboard), 24 Tomes tokens (punchboard), 20 Map tokens (punchboard), 1 Islands game board, 1 Rules book, and all unlocked stretch goals.
In Crimson Seas, you'll explore new far - off lands beyond Valeria. Obtain Maps to import trade Goods from Araby and boost your victory points. Purchase powerful Tomes at Nae Aerie to enhance resource production. Rescue captured Nobles from the Amarynth Empire and plunder the wealth of Exekratys. But beware of the sea monsters whose strength increases, causing chaos across Valeria.
There are lots of new features in Crimson Seas. New icons, tokens, mechanics, and card types await you. The new 'Islands' game board at the top of the play area is tied to all these new icons. To access the Islands, use the 'Sail' action and spend one MAP token. Then you can visit Araby for Goods, Nae Aerie for Tomes, Exekratys to retrieve lost resources, and Amarynth to rescue Nobles.
The new Citizen cards, especially the Peasant and Knight cards, have improved off - turn Harvests. The Coxswain, a new starting card for each player, adds exciting benefits to rolls. The five new nautical Domains offer unique advantages. The monsters have a new mechanic where their strength and rewards increase as you defeat more of them.
The Islands board is easy to store, fitting neatly in the card wells of the original VCK box or the new VCK Big Box. Each Island has its own function. In Araby, purchase Goods to earn victory points. At Nae Aerie, buy magical Tomes that refresh at the end of your active turn. Exekratys can be a source of resources, and Amarynth is where you rescue Nobles for extra victory points.
Fun Fact: Pledge at the Nobility & Captains level, and The Mico will create a Noble card in your likeness.
We're excited to bring you Valeria: Card Kingdoms Crimson Seas. A portion of every dollar you spend on this game will be used to back new games on Kickstarter. If you have any questions, contact The Game Steward.

Using Valeria: Card Kingdoms Crimson Seas is super fun! First, make sure you have the Valeria Card Kingdoms core game. Then, add the components from the Crimson Seas expansion. To start, each player gets a Coxwain card in addition to the usual starting cards.
When playing, use the 'Sail' action by spending one Map token to access the Islands. You can choose to visit Araby to buy Goods, Nae Aerie to get Tomes, Exekratys to retrieve lost resources, or Amarynth to rescue Nobles.
Pay attention to the dice rolls. If you roll a 6 (either on an individual die or the sum of the dice), the active player loses one resource per 6 to Exekratys. But don't worry, you can visit Exekratys to get those resources back.
When purchasing Goods in Araby or Tomes in Nae Aerie, the remaining items will slide down and new ones will be drawn. Place your purchases in your play area.
Rescuing Nobles from Amarynth costs 9 of any one resource. Place the rescued Noble next to your Duke card.
As for maintenance, keep the cards and tokens in a dry place. You can use card sleeves to protect the cards. When storing the Islands board, fan - fold it and place it in the card wells of the box. Have a great game!
