Product Information

Board Game Geek Rating: 6.31. Board Game Geek Average Player Rating: 7.30. This game is suitable for 1 to 4 players and was published in 2017. It's the Kickstarter Edition of Herbaceous, a card game full of flavor, including all stretch goals. The core game and all stretch goals are part of the package. Note that paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless otherwise stated. The contents are as follows: 63 Herb Cards with 9 cards each of 7 different herbs like Bay, Dill, Lavender, Rosemary, Saffron, Sage, and Tarragon; 9 Special Herb Cards with 3 cards each of 3 different herbs: Chive, Mint, and Thyme; 16 Container Cards in 4 player colors and 4 different container types such as Glass Jar, Large Pot, Small Pots, and Wood Planter; 1 Herb Biscuit Card; 4 Quick Reference Cards with gameplay steps on one side and container overview on the other; 4 Garden Markers; a Rules Booklet; and a Solo Variant Sheet. In Herbaceous, herb collectors strive to grow and store the most valuable herb medley. Each player starts with four containers, each enabling a different grouping action: group herbs of the same type, group different types, group pairs, or group any three types. On your turn, draw an herb and decide whether to keep it in your personal collection or put it in the communal pile. The next card's destination depends on your choice. At the start of your turn, you can choose to use a container. If you do, assemble cards from personal and communal spaces, group them, and turn them over. Once you've done this, you can't use that container again. At the end of the game, collectors determine the best collection based on the value of their collection, matching herbs, and herb sets. We're happy to support campaigns to bring you games like Herbaceous. A large percentage of every dollar you spend on this game will go towards backing amazing new games on Kickstarter. If you have purchase questions or need game advice, contact The Game Steward.

Using this game is easy. First, set up the game by laying out all the cards and markers according to the rules in the booklet. Each player starts with four containers. On your turn, draw an herb card. Decide if you want to keep it for your personal collection or put it in the communal pile. Remember, the next card's placement depends on your choice. You can use a container at the start of your turn. Just gather cards from your personal and the communal spaces, group them as per the container's rule, and turn them over. Once you've used a container, it can't be used again. At the end of the game, look at your collection, matching herbs, and herb sets to figure out the best collection. As for maintenance, keep the cards in a dry place. You can use a card protector to prevent them from getting damaged. Also, store the markers and booklet together in a box to avoid losing any parts. If you're playing the solo variant, follow the instructions on the Solo Variant Sheet. And don't forget, paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign aren't included unless it's specified.
