Product Information

Board Game Geek Rating: 6.69. Avg Player Rating: 7.01. For 1 to 4 players, published in 2016. This is the retail edition of the Cottage Garden board game. In Cottage Garden, you step into the world of gardening competition. You manage two beds filled with various flowers. Once a bed has no unplanted boxes, you've completed it. Then, count your points and get a new unplanted bed. You earn points from visible plant pots and planting bells. Players pick polyomino tiles of flower beds from a central market grid according to the 'gardener's' location and place them on one of their two personal garden boards. Each board has garden elements that score points when not covered by plants. These are scored on two tracks as soon as a garden is finished. Crossing a line on each track gives bonus tokens to fill empty spaces or get better flower bed tiles. When a garden is done, you get a new one. After the gardener's fifth lap around the market, it's the last round. The player with the most points from completed gardens wins. Cottage Garden is the first in Uwe Rosenberg’s puzzle trilogy. At TheGameSteward, we're excited to support campaigns to bring you games like Cottage Garden Retail Edition. A good part of your spending on this game will go towards backing new Kickstarter games. If you have questions about buying or need game advice, contact The Game Steward.

How to play: First, start the game with two personal garden boards. The 'gardener' moves around the central market grid. You select polyomino tiles of flower beds based on the gardener's location and place them on your garden boards. Try to complete a garden by filling all the unplanted boxes. Once a garden is completed, count your points from plant pots and planting bells, and then get a new unplanted garden. Keep an eye on the two scoring tracks and aim to cross the lines to get bonus tokens. The game ends after the gardener's fifth lap around the market, and the player with the most points wins. Note: Pay attention to the garden elements on the boards that can score points when not covered. Don't forget to use the bonus tokens to your advantage. Maintenance: Keep the game pieces in a dry and clean place to avoid damage. If the tiles or boards get dirty, you can gently wipe them with a soft cloth.
