Board Game Geek Rating: 7.12. Board Game Geek Avg Player Rating: 7.38. This 2 - 4 player board game was published in 2016. It's the retail edition of Quadropolis, first announced as City Mania. Each player builds their own metropolis, competing for shops, parks, public services and other structures. The game has four rounds. In each round, players randomly lay out tiles on a 5x5 grid. Each player has four architects numbered 1 - 4. On a turn, place an architect next to a row or column, claim a tile based on the architect's number, place it on your 4x4 city board, and claim associated resources like inhabitants or energy. When a tile is taken, a figure is placed in the empty space, and no one can place an architect in that row or column. You can't stack architects. After all architects are placed, the round ends, remaining tiles are removed, and new ones are laid out. At the end of four rounds, the game ends. You can move inhabitants and energy to maximize your score. Score for six types of buildings based on specific criteria: residential by height, shops by number of customers, public services by number of districts with them, parks by adjacent residential buildings, harbors by longest activated row/column, and factories by adjacent shops and harbors. Some buildings have their own victory points. The player with the highest score wins. We're happy to back campaigns so you can buy Quadropolis Retail Edition online at TheGameSteward. A large percentage of your spend on this game will go towards backing new Kickstarter games. If you have purchase questions or need game advice, contact The Game Steward.
How to play Quadropolis: First, randomly lay out tiles on a 5x5 grid for each round. Each player has four architects numbered 1 - 4. On your turn, place an architect next to a row or column. Then claim the tile as far in as the number of the architect. Put that tile on your 4x4 city board and take the associated resources. Remember, when you take a tile, a figure goes in the empty space and no one can place an architect in that row or column. Also, don't stack architects. After all players place all their architects, end the round, remove the remaining tiles, and lay out new ones for the next round. After four rounds, the game is over. You can move inhabitants and energy around during the game to get the best score. Score for each type of building according to the rules. The one with the highest score wins. Notes: Make sure you understand the scoring rules for each type of building. When placing architects, think about how it will limit your and others' options later. Maintenance: Keep the tiles and architects in a dry and clean place. Avoid bending the tiles or losing the small figures.
