Your quest nears completion, but 'heroes' are snooping. The Old Ones hear your prayers. Finish your plans and free them before the Investigators find you! Rise of Cthulhu: Dark Secrets is the first expansion to last year's successful Rise of Cthulhu card game. It adds new Monsters, Artifacts, and Old Ones for a shadowy path to victory. It also introduces Investigators who hunt your influence and try to stop the Old Ones' awakening. When an Investigator card is drawn, place it on the corresponding Location. If it lands on a Location without an Old One, it banishes Cultists, removes Monsters and Artifacts, and resets the Location. Each Investigator has a resource number. Play Cultist cards to equal or exceed it to remove the Investigator. Until then, you can only play Cultist cards on that Location. This expansion also adds a new player aide as the community asked. How to use: Start by setting up the core board game as per the instructions. Shuffle the cards and deal them out. When playing, follow the rules regarding Monsters, Artifacts, and Old Ones. If an Investigator card is drawn, place it on the right Location. Try to get rid of Investigators by playing enough Cultist cards. Note that until an Investigator is removed from a Location, you can only play Cultist cards there. Maintenance: Keep the cards in a dry and cool place to prevent them from getting damaged. If the cards get dirty, use a soft, dry cloth to clean them gently. When not in use, store the game in its box to keep all parts together.
