Board Game Geek Rating: 8.28. Board Game Geek Avg Player Rating: 8.57. This retail edition of Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization Board Game is a must - have for board game lovers. Published in 2015, it's for 2 to 4 players. It's an upgraded version of Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization, with significant changes to game cards across three ages and how the military functions. Through the Ages is an exciting civilization - building game. You'll build your civilization by managing resources carefully, exploring new technologies, choosing the right leaders, constructing wonders, and keeping a strong military. Any weakness can be exploited by opponents. The game spans from antiquity to the modern age. Card drafting is a key mechanism. Technologies, wonders, and leaders become easier to draft as they stay in play. To use a technology, you need sufficient science, food for population, and resources. You also need to build a military, just like civilian buildings. A weak military makes you a target, and stronger players can steal your resources, science, kill leaders, or take population and culture. It's tough to win with just a large military, but easy to lose with a weak one. Victory goes to the player with the most culture at the end of the modern age. At TheGameSteward, we're thrilled to offer this game. A large part of your purchase will support new Kickstarter games. How to play: First, gather 2 to 4 players. Start the game in the age of antiquity and work your way through to the modern age. Use card drafting to get technologies, wonders, and leaders. Make sure you have enough science, food, and resources to use the technologies you draft. Build your military in the same way as civilian buildings. Try to balance resource management for technology advancement and military strength. Keep an eye on your opponents and don't let them exploit your weaknesses. Note: A weak military can lead to losing resources, science, leaders, population, or culture, so always maintain a decent military force. Maintenance: Keep the game cards in a dry and clean place to prevent damage. If the cards get dirty, you can gently wipe them with a soft cloth. Have fun playing this civilization - building adventure!
