Product Information
Embark on an exciting journey across the gorgeous plains of the Pampas with your cattle! In Great Western Trail: Argentina, set in late 19th - century Argentina, you're the owner of a large estancia. Your mission is to lead your cattle across the Pampas plains and deliver them to the main train station in Buenos Aires. This game features familiar gameplay elements from Great Western Trail like deck management, the rondel mechanism, and player - board upgrades, with unique twists and new features. The player board introduces a new type of worker - farmers. There are different paths on the game board, giving you more choices. You can choose the road with buildings or a path past farmers. You might even use the strength on your cow cards to assist farmers, gain their support, and add grain, a new resource, to your income. Grain can be used for boat and city tiles. You may unlock shortcuts to quickly deliver your herd to Buenos Aires, though you'll give up using action buildings. Timing your herd delivery at the central train station is crucial, and there are valuable bonuses on the city's port tiles. Money is easier to obtain in this game, but you'll face more challenges in managing action options, shortcuts, and cards (including new exhaustion cards). There's also a solitaire challenge where you can try to beat Pedro's score. Suitable for 1 - 4 players, with a playing time of 75 - 150 minutes and for ages 12 and above. Game mechanisms include deck, bag, and pool building, hand management, ownership, set collection, solo/solitaire play, track movement, and variable set - up. Themes are animals and economic.
How to play: First, each player gets a player board and starts with a set of cards. You'll use deck management to plan your moves. When it's your turn, you can take actions like moving your cattle on the game board, using the rondel mechanism for certain actions, or upgrading your player board. Decide which path to take on the game board, considering the different options and potential rewards. If you choose to help farmers, use the strength on your cow cards. When you collect enough grain, you can use it for boat and city tiles. To win, aim to deliver your herd to the central train station in Buenos Aires at the right time to get bonuses. For the solitaire challenge, try to beat Pedro's score. Note: Pay attention to the exhaustion cards as they can limit your actions. Make sure to think carefully before using shortcuts as you'll lose the use of action buildings. Maintenance: Keep the game cards and board in a dry place. If the cards get dirty, you can gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth. Don't bend or fold the cards to ensure they last a long time.
