In this game, players take on the role of caretakers, striving to keep their humans alive while completing various missions. Along the way, you'll need items like furs and tents, but these are just small quests compared to the epic long - term goal: painting a woolly mammoth on the wall. It's not just about leaving a mark for future humans; let's admit it, the mammoth painting looks really cool! However, death in all its forms is a constant threat. Each player begins with a couple of humans, each with a skill and a set number of life points. On each turn, players choose a location. You might have an idea of what's there, but you won't know for sure until you arrive. You could find food, resources, or materials to craft useful objects, help others with their projects, or even get a snakebite that nearly ends your journey. Life in the Stone Age is full of both amazing discoveries and terrifying dangers. At the end of each day, you must provide food for your group and use various crafts or skills to complete quests. Failing to do so adds a skull to the tote board. Once you collect too many, you might just give up and let future humans admire someone else. Paleo comes with multiple modules, offering a wide variety of people, locations, and quests during your time in 10,000 BCE.
To start playing Paleo, each player gets a couple of humans with skills and life points. On your turn, pick a location. Remember, what you'll find there is a bit of a mystery until you arrive.
