Product Information

District Noir, a remarkable two - player abstract board game, has been short - listed for the 2023 As d'Or - Jeu de l'Année Game of the Year. Pandasaurus Games is bringing this gem to the Western market! It combines elements of bluffing, set collection, and hand management, designed by Nobutake Dogen and Nao Shimamura, initially released as Throne and Grail. To start the game, take three cards face - down from the 45 - card deck, then lay out two cards face up to form a line. Each round, players get five cards in hand. On each turn, you can either play a card to the line's end or, once per round, collect the five most recently played cards. After four rounds, the game concludes. Some cards have direct positive or negative points. Cards numbered 5 - 8 earn you 5 - 8 points if you have more of them than your opponent. Also, you get 5 points for each set of 5 - 8 cards collected. Usually, points determine the winner, but collecting all three special cards guarantees an immediate win.

Let's start with how to play District Noir. First, get your 45 - card deck ready. Take three cards and put them face - down. Then, turn two cards face up to start your line. Each round, you'll receive five cards in your hand. When it's your turn, you have two choices. You can play a card from your hand to the end of the line, or just once per round, you can collect the five most recently played cards. Keep doing this for four rounds, and then the game ends. Now, about scoring. Some cards have numbers on them, and you get those points right away. For cards numbered 5 - 8, if you have more of them than your opponent, you score 5 - 8 points for each. Also, every set of 5 - 8 cards you collect gives you 5 extra points. Usually, the one with more points wins, but if you manage to collect all three special cards, you win right away. As for maintenance, keep the cards in a dry place and away from direct sunlight to avoid damage. When not in use, store the cards in their box to keep them organized.
