The Isle of Cats is a highly-rated, competitive, medium-weight board game suitable for 1 - 4 players (up to 6 with expansions). Board Game Geek rates it 5.55, and the average player rating is 8.32. Published in 2019, it's a Kickstarter exclusive bundle from City of Games. This bundle includes the core game, the Late Arrivals Expansion (which supports up to 6 players), Kickstarter Exclusive Promo Pack 1, and all stretch goals. Note that paid add - ons from the Kickstarter Campaign are not included unless stated otherwise. In the game, you're citizens of Squall’s End on a rescue mission to the Isle of Cats. Your goal is to rescue as many cats as possible before the evil Lord Vesh arrives. Each cat is represented by a unique tile and belongs to a family. You'll need to manage resources while exploring the island, rescuing cats, finding treasures, befriending Oshax, and studying ancient lessons. Each of the 38 unique lessons gives you a personal way to score points. Complete lessons, fill your boat, and keep cat families together to win! The game also has family and solo modes. The family mode is beginner - friendly, simplifying the setup and learning curve. The solo mode offers a similar experience to the multiplayer game, with extra cards and challenges. You can download the rulebook for all modes on our website.

How to play: The game is played over 5 days (rounds). At the start, each player gets 20 fish and is dealt 7 discovery cards. You choose and keep 2 cards, passing the rest to the left. Repeat this 4 times, keeping 1 card on the last turn. The cost of cards is in the top - left corner and must be paid in fish. Lesson cards, which let you score extra points at the end, are kept on the table. Players take turns rescuing cats, which require a basket and fish. When you rescue a cat, take it to your boat. After that, players take Oshax and Treasure cards. After 5 days, you earn points for lesson cards, rare treasures, and keeping cat families on your boat, but lose points for empty boat rooms. The player with the most points wins. Note: This is a Kickstarter exclusive bundle. Paid add - ons from the campaign are not included unless stated. For family mode, it's great for beginners as it simplifies the game. For solo mode, use the extra cards as described in the rulebook starting on page 18. Maintenance: Keep the game in a dry place to prevent damage to the cards and tiles. If the cards get dirty, gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth.
