Product Information

Board Game Geek Rating: 6.32. Board Game Geek Avg Player Rating: 6.97. This game is for 3 to 5 players and was published in 2016. It's the retail edition of the Bloodborne card - based board game. Bloodborne: The Card Game is inspired by the Chalice Dungeons in the Bloodborne video game. These are ever - changing labyrinths and tombs under the fallen city of Yharnam, full of terrifying creatures. Players go head - to - head to slay monsters and collect their blood. It's a game of risk management, a bit of group strategy, inventory management and upgrades, and tactical play. You start with basic weapons in your hand and can upgrade them to boost your fighting power. Each turn, a randomly - selected monster attacks the players. They fight back as a team, playing a card from their hand at the same time to try and kill the monster. If the monster dies, players get blood based on the damage they dealt. Monsters can fight back with exploding dice that can cause huge damage. You can keep fighting, but if you die in combat, you lose your progress. You can choose to stop and bank your blood permanently. Collected blood equals victory points. Designer Eric M. Lang aimed to bring the intensity and frustration of the video game into a player - to - player contest with lots of death. How to play: Start the game with a hand of basic weapons. Each turn, a random monster will attack. As a team, all players play a card from their hand at the same time to fight the monster. If the monster is killed, collect blood based on the damage you dealt. You can keep fighting as long as you want, but be careful. If you die in combat, you'll lose all your progress. You can choose to stop and save your collected blood permanently. The collected blood counts as victory points. Things to note: Monsters can fight back with exploding dice that might cause a large amount of damage, so plan your moves carefully. If you're new to the game, it might take a few rounds to get the hang of the rules. Maintenance advice: Keep the cards in a dry and cool place to prevent them from getting damaged. You can use a card protector to extend their lifespan.
