In the ancient land of Varisia, a forgotten evil awakens. Dark magic hums in ruins, giants gather in huge armies, cultists kill in the name of evil gods, and goblins plot to destroy Sandpoint. With this cooperative strategy card game, 1 - 4 heroes face traps, monsters, magic, and foes from the award - winning Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path. Players become fantasy characters like rogues or wizards, with skills represented by deck cards. Ability scores use different dice. You can get allies, spells, and weapons. The goal is to defeat a villain within a set number of turns. Characters grow stronger after each game, adding gear and powers. This expandable game's first set has nearly 500 cards. The 110 - card Character Add - On Deck allows 5 - 6 players and adds more character choices. Bimonthly 110 - card adventure decks will expand the game. To play the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords Base Set, first decide on the number of players (1 - 4, or 5 - 6 with the Character Add - On Deck). Each player picks a fantasy character like a rogue or wizard. You'll use the cards in your deck to represent your character's skills. When it comes to ability scores, use the different sized dice as assigned. During the game, try to acquire allies, spells, weapons, and other items. Your main goal is to find and defeat the villain within the set number of turns. After each game, your character will grow stronger. Add unique gear and magic to your deck to gain more powers. As for the expansion, expect bimonthly 110 - card adventure decks. Be aware that early printings had an error with the 'Sihedron Medallion' Loot card; it's unknown if later printings fixed it.
