It includes a 2 - sided 6 - 8 player version of the Cthulhu Wars Library of Celaeno Map and requires the standard Library of Celaeno Map Expansion to play. Cthulhu Wars is an exciting strategy board game. Players take on the roles of alien races and gods from H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. The game comes with 64 figurines of cultists, monsters, aliens, and Great Old Ones, ranging from about 20 mm to nearly 180 mm in height. Set on an Earth map, players in the base game choose one of four factions. At the start of a turn, they gather power and then spend it in action rounds on tasks like recruiting cultists, moving units, battling, summoning monsters, building gates, casting spells, and awakening their Great Old One. The action phase ends when players run out of power, and the next turn begins. Victory is achieved by getting 30 points on the Doom Track and unlocking all six spell books. Each faction has unique monsters, spell books, and special abilities with different requirements to get spell books, offering multiple strategies.
