As the Killer, hunt down the Survivors, wound them, and place them on sacrificial hooks to summon a sinister force. Enough sacrifices let you appease The Entity and claim victory. Each turn, players secretly choose paths on the board. Moving reveals new props, which can be used to achieve goals or hinder opponents. Survivors can use various props for survival, while Killers rely on attacks and unique powers. Each Killer's power changes the game dynamics. Both sides have perks for special abilities, and experienced players can customize characters for more replayability. The basic game has 7 Survivors, 6 Killers, and 2 maps. The Collector's edition offers 17 Survivors, 16 Killers, 4 maps, and extra miniatures for an ultimate Dead by Daylight experience.
To play this game, first decide if you'll be a Survivor or a Killer. As a Survivor, your main goal is to find and repair four generators and then escape through the exit gates. Look around the trial grounds for props that can help you on your way. Use your unique perks to your advantage. As a Killer, your job is to hunt down the Survivors, wound them, and put them on sacrificial hooks. Try to make enough sacrifices to appease The Entity. When it's your turn, secretly pick a path on the board to move. Be careful, as moving will reveal new props which can either help you or your opponent. When setting up, for the basic game, you have 7 Survivors, 6 Killers, and 2 maps to choose from. The Collector's edition gives you more options. After playing, store the game in a dry place to keep the components in good condition. Make sure to keep the miniatures safe from damage. Don't lose any of the small pieces like the props and cards.
