Product Information
Embark on an exciting journey in the Iberian Railways board game! At the start, you have only hope and the courage to take on debt to build railways across the Iberian Peninsula, connecting towns and cities. The game board shows Spain and Portugal, with towns, minor and major cities, Lisbon, and Madrid color - coded on a hex - based map. There are four action spaces: start, expand, merge, and purchase, and all players begin on the expand space. On your turn, move your action marker to a new action and then either take the action or pass. Here's a quick look at the actions: Start a new railway by placing cubes on the map to connect at least two urban hexes and increase your income. Expand an existing railway, connect urban hexes, pay costs based on cube placement, and gain income. Merge your railways by placing cubes to combine them and boost your income. Purchase a business interest card for $3 - 5. After each action or a pass, receive your income, pay loan interest, optionally pay off a loan, and check if the game ends. Points are awarded for various achievements, and the player with the most points wins.
How to play: Start the game with just hope and the option to take on debt. Place your action marker on the expand space at the beginning. On your turn, move the marker to a new action. If you choose to start a new railway, place cubes to connect urban hexes and increase your income. For expanding, connect more hexes to your existing railways. Merging combines your railways, and purchasing gets you a business interest card. After each move, get your income from the bank, pay interest on loans, and you can pay off a loan if you want. Check if you've placed your last cube to see if the game ends. Points are given for different achievements like highest income, longest track, etc. Note: Remember, hexes outside Madrid can have at most two cubes, and at the start, you can place at most three cubes, which increases after each build. You may need to take loans as you start with no money. There's no special maintenance for this board game, just keep the pieces in a safe place to avoid losing them.
