Product Information

Board Game Geek gives Tapeworm an average player rating of 7.56. This 2021 retail - edition board game from Studio 71 Games comes with the core game. Designed by Edmund McMillen, Tapeworm is all about players competing to build tapeworms and empty their hands of tile - like cards. The game starts with a starting tile showing stitched - together tapeworms. The first turn can be based on who looks most like a worm or chosen randomly. On a player's turn, they draw and lay down matching tiles until a matching head segment is placed to complete the tapeworm. The first player to empty their hand wins. There are special cards to help or hinder opponents, like Cut to sever a worm segment, Peek to draw and replace a card, Hatch to force an opponent to draw from the deck, Swap to check an opponent's hand and trade cards, and Dig to draw and discard a card. Creating a fully - connected ring of cards forms a Ringworm, making the player discard two cards. McMillen developed Tapeworm's prototype in 2011 after Super Meat Boy, and played it privately for years. In 2018, Studio71 discovered it and started the publishing process. At TheGameSteward, we're excited to offer Tapeworm Core Game. A large part of your purchase will support new Kickstarter games. If you have questions about buying or need game advice, contact us at The Game Steward.

Using the Tapeworm game is easy. First, lay down the starting tile. Then, decide the first player either by who looks most like a worm or randomly. During your turn, draw and lay down matching tiles until you place a matching head segment to finish a tapeworm. Keep going until you empty your hand to win. Be aware of the special cards. Use them to your advantage or to stop your opponents. For example, use the Cut card to break a worm segment. When creating a Ringworm, remember you'll have to discard two cards. As for maintenance, keep the cards in a dry place and away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. If the cards get dirty, you can gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth. Have fun playing the game!
