Product Information

Board Game Geek Rating: 6.89. Board Game Geek Avg Player Rating: 7.07. This 2 - 6 player board game was published in 2014. It's the retail edition of the King of New York Board Game. In the never - sleeping city, there's always action! It could be the lights, the energy, or the giant monsters trying to wreck the place. King of New York, a standalone game by Richard Garfield, keeps the core of King of Tokyo and adds new gameplay. Your goal is to be the first monster to get 20 victory points or the last one standing. On your turn, roll six dice up to three times and act on the results. Claws damage other monsters, hearts heal you, and energy helps you buy unique power cards. In King of New York, you can aim for 'Fame' in the big city for victory points, but superstar status is short - lived. The game board is larger than in King of Tokyo. Each monster has a district in the city, and everyone wants to shine in Manhattan. You can displace other monsters when attacking, destroy buildings for bonuses, but more destruction means a stronger military response. Monsters from this game can be used in King of Tokyo and vice versa, but the power cards are game - specific. At TheGameSteward, we're happy to back campaigns. A large part of your spending on this game will support new Kickstarter games. If you have purchase or game advice questions, contact The Game Steward.

How to play: Each player takes on the role of a monster. On your turn, roll six dice up to three times. Claws on the dice let you damage other monsters, hearts heal your own monster, and energy can be used to buy power cards. Try to be the first to get 20 victory points or the last monster standing. You can also aim for 'Fame' to get more victory points. When attacking, you can move monsters between districts and destroy buildings for bonuses. Things to note: Superstar status (Fame) is temporary, so make the most of it. The more buildings you destroy, the stronger the military response will be. The power cards are specific to this game, so they can't be used in other games. Maintenance advice: Keep the game in a dry place to prevent damage to the cards and the board. After each play, put all the pieces back in the box neatly to avoid losing them.
